VITA-Learn Board Web Policies and Practices
1. The VITA-Learn Web server is the property of the Vermont Information Technology Association for the Advancement of Learning (VITA-Learn) and its use is governed by the rules established by the VITA-Learn Board of Directors. As a developing project, changes to those rules will be an ongoing process.

2. VETC makes web server access available to schools who request it and who send representatives to training sessions. VITA-Learn does not make Web server access available to individuals.

3. Schools can request a page on the VITA-Learn Web server by a letter from its principal. The letter should also designate the person who will manage the school's web page and who has responsibility for its contents. The password for access to an individual school's web page files will be provided to the person so designated by the principal.

4. Vermont State Colleges, while providing system administrative support for the VITA-Learn server, has no responsibility for the accuracy and suitability of information published on the VITA-Learn Web server.

5. Each school is responsible for the accuracy and appropriateness of the information it displays on its web pages.

6. The VITA-Learn Board of Directors reserves the right to remove any school's web pages for any reason.

7. At present, VITA-Learn will not provide support for school-created CGI routines.

8. All users of the VITA-Learn Web server are asked to avoid unnecessary bandwidth consumption. Excessive use of image or other large files is discouraged.

9. School web site managers will create and test html and other web file on their desktop machines and the ftp those files to the school account on the VITA-Learn Web server.

10. Backup process will be provided on a weekly basis. It is intended to secure the server as a whole, not to retrieve a file inadvertently deleted. We assume that copies of html and other files will be retained on the desktop machine where they were created.

11. We encourage the development of all school-related pages by the faculty, staff, and students of member schools and provide instructions on how to create them.

12. There is no enforced standard for the look and feel of the pages.

13. An e-mail discussion group exists to discuss issues related to technical issues and the practice and theory of WWW. This group is located at VETC-WEB@list.uvm.edu
