A. Integrating Smartboard into the Classroom
Jennifer Paine & Bridget Ferrin
Jennifer (grade 2) and Bridget (grade5) of The St Johnsbury School will take you through several lessons enhanced by the use of interactive whiteboards. They will discuss how lessons are created, additional peripherals used in the process, and the outcomes with their students. They will also describe the advantages and the perils of integrating the Smartboard in their classroom as a permanent fixture.

This workshop will walk you through the process of creating brochures to motivate and teach children about human and natural resources of their community
C. Moodling in the High School Classroom – Views From the Teacher and Student

In this session, participants will get an overview of the Moodle online learning environment including online discussions, uploading documents, wiki’s and posting grades through a look at a current Milton High School Moodle course. This course is a traditional face-to-face course that has been enhanced by supplement of the online Moodle environment. Two high school students will also be on hand to share their opinions of the usability of the software for their needs and how it changed their learning.
D. Sharing Learning Through Multimedia in the Primary Grades

As a culmination of science and social studies units, students constructed slideshows using Kidpix. These products dramatically demonstrated student learning and achievement in content, technology, communication and collaboration. You will share in the journey from “big idea” to implementation and refinement throughout the year. students to use higher order thinking skills~and become more media and tech savvy?
E. Motivating students to Read and Respond to Informational Text via Class Wikis

Become part of my students' WIKI sites as you learn about several of our collaborative literacy learning projects. Hear about shifts in motivation and engagement in at-risk, hard-to-reach learners. See what learning exchanges can happen beyond classroom walls once your students become part of collaborative technology experiences. To insure you leave with entry level skills to do this work in the classroom, we will create a basic WIKI website together. (This is geared to beginners who want someone to show them..."they can do it, too!")
F. My Favorite Web 2.0 tools! – for the classroom grades 1-8 (and Up)

Web 2.0 tools are on-line applications that promote communication, cooperation, collaboration and cool learning. And they are available for free (mostly) on any computer that has Internet access. I can't tell you what my favorites will be in May - because new ones are popping up all the time.
G. Vita-Learn in Second Life

Learn how educators from across Vermont have been meeting at Vita-Learn's virtual headquarters in the on-line multi-user game Second Life. You will see how educators from across the country and around the world have been using this environment for colleagueship and professional development. Bring your laptop to attend this session as your avitar in Second Life or come as you are in real life!
